The Home Team

The Home Team – with its logo that combines both Cape and Jackson colors – is made up of Lois, Jeff and Rachael Long. Jeff and Lois have been a “team” since college sweetheart days, with each one bringing their own strengths to the table. Their youngest daughter, Rachael, joined the team some years later – and brings new skills and perspectives to our work.

Lois

So, these bio things are usually full of a lot of blah-blah-blah talk. And we’ll get to that. If you want the detail, it’s below. But here’s what you really need to know about Lois:

  • She cares like crazy about her clients.
  • She is absolutely determined that her clients “get” the process and are comfortable with every step.
  • She is completely committed to making sure her clients have the right for them – whatever that is.
  • She doesn’t do pressure, she doesn’t do flash. She does service. And caring. Lots of caring.
  • And humor. There is always humor. The serious stuff she takes deadly seriously, but finding the humor along the way helps. Unless of course, you hate bad puns. Then call Jeff instead.

And now for the blah-blah-blah part:

Lois joined Edge Realty — known then as Realty Executives of Cape County — in 2012 and has been a full-time, multimillion-dollar seller every year since then. Balanced pretty evenly between buyers and sellers, her work runs the gamut of the Southeast Missouri market. She has her Broker’s license and is always learning, with several advanced accreditations, including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), and e-PRO.

She loves every aspect of real estate – ok, maybe she doesn’t “love” sewer scopes and septic inspections, although she sure goes to a lot of them – with a special enthusiasm for:

  • First-time homebuyers
  • Move-up buyers
  • Downsizers
  • Relocations to and from the area (she especially loves helping new residents get connected in this wonderful community!)
  • New construction – yes, you may need a Realtor for that!
  • Historic homes – we live in one!

Before real estate, Lois’s background was in TV journalism, including consumer and health reporting, and marketing/communications. These skills serve her well.

Jeff

But Lois is only part of the team. Here’s something to know about Jeff.

  • He understands when a client doesn’t feel heard.
  • He listens when you speak.
  • He listens because 25 years as a pastor taught him to pay attention.
  • He has given listening workshops to fellow realtors, to nurses, to professionals who work with seniors.

Jeff joined his wife Lois at Edge Realty in 2015 and they work closely together with all clients.

Before real estate, Jeff led small and large churches in Missouri, has a background in major-market commercial radio, and lends his time to Habitat for Humanity – helping people who otherwise would have no chance at homeownership.

He is a licensed real estate agent and realtor and is eager to help you achieve your dream home too!

In fact, Lois likes to say that he’s about the only Realtor who can help you find a home in this world – AND the next! But Jeff won’t let her put that on a billboard. You only get to know that because you read all the way to the bottom! (Remember what we said about humor…?)

Rachael

Rachael rounds out the Home Team and brings a new perspective to the team’s vision. Here’s what she wants you to know:

  • She lived in 7 different houses before graduating from high school in 2014 and has lived in three states since then, so she knows the value of a place to call home.
  • She understands firsthand the challenges facing young people and first-time homebuyers.
  • She cares deeply about ensuring clients understand the process of buying, selling, or investing.
  • She believes in improving access to homeownership for all, especially those who have historically been denied access.
  • Don’t ask about her dog unless you have an hour to look at pictures… No seriously, don’t do it.

Rachael’s background is in print journalism and communications. She joined the team after a few years of working as a print journalist in Denver, Nashville, and Cape Girardeau. She enjoys getting to the heart of any problem and finding creative solutions that work for everyone.
